Hey there, fabulous readers!
I wanted to take a break from all the tech talk and get a little more personal with you. This part of my blog is all about my journey in academia, and boy, let me tell you, this semester has been a whirlwind of experiences. So, let’s dive into it and reflect on the ups and downs.
It all started last spring when I decided to embark on the adventure of finding the perfect online master’s degree program in Computer Science, specifically focusing on web development. As a lover of all things internet-related, and with a dream of someday teaching at a college, this was my golden ticket. After an extensive search, I stumbled upon the PACE University. It seemed like a match made in heaven, offering the exact degree concentration I was yearning for.
With enthusiasm and determination, I applied to PACE University, and to my delight, I got in without any hiccups. Originally, I had planned to start in the fall of 2022, but I ended up postponing it to spring 2023. Little did I know how much of a blessing that decision would turn out to be, considering the rollercoaster this semester became.
Oh, that first week of classes… It wasn’t quite the smooth sailing I had envisioned. I couldn’t even access my class, and it took what felt like an eternity to sort everything out before I could even see the assignments. Talk about major disappointment, right?
Now, let’s talk about the course I chose, CS 604 Computer Concepts. Despite my initial frustrations, I did find the content intriguing and engaging. However, I must admit, the professor left a lot to be desired. Feedback on assignments? Practically non-existent. Grading? Only happened at the end of the semester. Can you imagine the suspense and anxiety that built up? Not exactly the ideal learning environment, to say the least.
But hey, amidst all the challenges, I’m incredibly proud of what I accomplished this semester. I practically took on my “group” project all by myself. It involved diving deep into Verilog coding to instruct a processor on how to write instructions. Let me just say, I am beaming with pride at having cracked the code (pun intended), rewrote it, and even wrote the project paper. I mean, can I call myself an electrical engineer at this point? Because that’s essentially what this project turned out to be. If you’re curious, you can check out my project on GitHub. It’s a testament to all the hard work I put in.
Now, let’s switch gears to something more personal but equally delightful. This semester, I had the absolute pleasure of watching Legally Blonde: The Musical. Let me tell you, I have never loved a musical more in my life. Elle Woods is my spirit animal, and the soundtrack resonated with me on a whole other level. It felt like the musical paralleled my own journey with this master’s class. The determination, the challenges, and the triumphs—it was all there.
So, there you have it, my lovely readers. A glimpse into the beginning of my academic adventures and the serendipitous connection I found with Legally Blonde. Life truly has a way of intertwining our experiences, don’t you think?
Stay tuned for more exciting updates, insights, and of course, some tech talk. Until next time, remember to embrace your inner Elle Woods and conquer whatever challenges come your way!
