This is a Networking Strategy Report for Newton Ad Agency and is a comprehensive report that shows the creation of a network that needed to include strategies for WAN technologies, correct IP addressing, wireless access, and remote access for the business. This was created in the fall semester of 2016 at SNHU for IT-340 (Networking and Telecommunication Management.) The original purpose of this report was to gain understanding in telecommunications and networking, understand the relationships between chosen networking technologies and services, gain competency with networking and hardware/software, and communicate networking concepts to others in a user friendly format.  The artifact demonstrates this objective since a complex computing problem needed to be analyzed and computing principals needed to be applied. Creating a network in general can be a complex problem to understand especially when this project was aimed at not just general networking but adding in the need for remote access, subnetting, connectivity plans for each business location, and a presentation for others that likely have varying and limited backgrounds in IT services. I chose this item because I felt it shows off my Networking abilities as well as my problem solving skills when applied to business requirements and budgeting. There were several skills needed to make this project a success– the first being an understanding of IP addressing, as well as the calculations needed to correctly subnet a network. The next requirement was to have knowledge in WAN technologies and how best to apply them to the given the business requirements, along with network diagramming to effectively show the network layout in a way that unfamiliar users could understand. As a whole,  I feel this artifact represents the selected objective. I learned a great deal from this artifact in the creation of Networking, IP addressing, and selecting technologies based on budgeting and business needs, as well as being able to express my ideas in an easy to understand user and management format. The most challenging part of this assessment was correctly addressing each network for each of the business’s sites and selecting technology that fit the business budget. I do not believe that I would do anything different if asked to do the project over since the concepts are the same.  I do believe that since technology moves so quickly that an update would be needed to keep the network running and safe from security threats. I believe the artifact gave me experience much like that in a real world situation. With any business in the real world, there will be budgeting constraints, employees with varying backgrounds in IT that need to understand the technology being chosen, and different business locations as well as remote access that the network will need to be able to cover. I believe that this artifact encompasses not just the outlined objective but showcases my skills in applying concepts in analyzing real life issues and competency in articulation of Networking, Telecommunication, and Communication.
