This is my first technology review and it’s for Blue’s Yeti USB Microphone. I did get this with my own money and the all the opinions expresses are my own. Now that that’s out of the way let’s get on in to how great this mic is.
First off I was not expecting this mic to be as hefty as it. The mic stand for it is very well made and sturdy. Another thing before I even turned on the mic to try it out was the packaging. I love the packaging. It’s so cute, there are little Yeti’s everywhere and each one represents a type of use for the YetI Microphone. Before we go in the tech specs and setting up to record I want to talk about how sleek the mic looks it also has easy to use buttons and can be taken off the stand and attached to a boom arm if you’re looking to add it to a streaming set up.
Going in to how well the mic actually works. It is awesome and at a reasonable price for how great it is. I love that there are different setting for different types of activates that you want to do. There’s a setting for everything from video conferencing to streaming to podcasting. It really is an all in one mic. I got this so that I can up the quality of my voice overs for my videos while my boyfriend wanted it for his streaming. Which brings me to the different modes that Yeti can do. Like with the examples above there are different setting depending on what you would like to do. These descriptions are provided straight from Blues site.
The first setting is Cardioid mode. This mode is perfect for podcasting, Twitch streaming, music recording, voice overs and instruments. Cardioid mode records sound sources that are directly in front of the microphone, delivering rich, full-bodied sound.
The second is Stereo mode. This mode uses both the left and right channels to capture a wide, realistic sound image—ideal for recording acoustic guitar or choir and immersive experiences like ASMR videos.
The third is omnidirectional mode. This mode picks up sound equally from all around the mic. It’s best used in situations when you want to capture the ambience of “being there”—like recording a band’s live performance, a multi-person podcast or a conference call.
The fourth is Bidirectional. This mode records from both the front and rear of the microphone—good for recording a duet or a two-person interview.
There are literally limitless possibilities with this mic.
Getting started with this mic is really easy too and has minimal set up. I literally took it out of the package plugged the usb in and connect it to the computer. From there remember that Yeti is a side –address microphone. A side –address microphone accepts sounds from angles perpendicular to the mic as opposed to a front-address mic. Which accepts sound from the “end” of the microphone. That’s pretty much it from there I was ready to record.
Final thoughts I really love this mic and how easy it is to use. I like the price point is its 125.00 USD I think this is great and you can not beat he quality. I also want to mention some other reviews because I know how important it is to see multiple ones. When I started looking for mics I watch Linus Tech Tips, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fANP9Q6OKmQ and RandomFrankP, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1Zb8ZjrKl8
These two really helped me when looking about this mic and compairing them to other ones. Lastly I think when looking at microphones especially now since their in demand that is the Yeti is a good choice. I don’t think you can go wrong with this one since there are so many options and it’s a good investment.
